Lovely, Easy, Half-Mile Stroll By The River

Wildlife, river activity, toilets, choice of free parking, playparks, benches, picnic areas, food and drink options, and an ice cream van.

Fisherman's Car Park to Annesdale

  • Note: There are a number of places to park (see map) near this walk so you choose where to start.
  • Starting from the Fisherman's Car Park at the end of Willow Walk, off Lisle Lane.
  • With the river to your left follow the Pegasus Walk past the Willows and benches towards the Babylon Gallery.
  • When you emerge at Waterside there are tearooms on your right next to an antiques barn. There is usually an ice cream van here too.
  • Heading round to the river's edge again you have the magnificent Ely Maltings on the right with the cafe-bar at the front.
  • Toilets: With the Maltings Green to your left; walk to the end and turn right; toilets on your right in the Ship Lane Car Park.

  • Opposite cafe-bar is the boat trips quay.
  • A few yards further on you will reach the bottom of the wonderful Jubilee Gardens with bandstand, playpark, an eel sculpture, benches and planted gardens.
  • Next along the way is the pub and then a restaurant. From here the path narrows as you reach Annesdale. Look out for the hotel barge moored here.

    The City of Ely offers free parking. - The Fisherman's Car Park at the end of Willow Walk - In Willow Walk next to the green - Ship Lane Car Park - Broad Street Car Park aka Forehill Car Park

    Pegasus Open Space, (the green next to Willow Walk) - The Maltings Green - Jubilee Gardens.

    Play Parks

    On from the Fisherman's Car Park, The Pocket Park - In Willow Walk on the left near the houses - Jubilee Gardens.

    Ely City Centre

    The City centre is only a short walk from the riverside area - Market days are Thursday and Saturday - Shops - Cafe's - The Cathedral and Palace Green - The Museum
